This is a wonderful circular that was put out by Abbot-Downing Company on the company's Eighty Fifth Anniversary of an order they shipped to Wells, Fargo & Co.  It shows the shipment being sent by railroad and the steam locomotive that hauled it from their manufactory in Concord, Massachusetts to Omaha, Nebraska. It is a wide view with all 20 carloads captured in the photo.

There is actually a color painting this photo is taken from. I believe it resides in Wells Fargo Museum.

The shipment was made on April, 1868 to Wells, Fargo & Co., to the Terminus for Union Pacific Railroad at Omaha, Nebraska consisting of 30 Mail Coaches, 4 Carloads of Repairing Material, and Harnesses for the entire outfit. It was sent on a special train and conductor to Omaha in 7 days. Stagecoaches were still needed to travel between train terminal and outlying areas.

The image below has above the photo the following caption: Compliments of the ABBOT-DOWNING COMPANY. and in red letters: ESTABLISHED 1813

There are seven lines beneath the photo. I will separate by semi-colon the lines: SHIPMENT MADE BY THE ABBOT-DOWNING COMPANY.  ;  CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE.  ;  APRIL, 1868.  ;  TO WELLS, FARGO & CO., TERMINUS UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD.  ;  30 Mail Coaches, 4 carloads Repairing Material, and Harnesses for the entire outfit.  ;  Special train and conductor to Omaha in 7 days.  ;  This last line is in red:  1813.-- EIGHTY-FIVE YEARS. -- 1898.

This item measures 8 1/2" x 6" and is on thin paper. It was produced in 1898 to commemorate the eighty-five years the company had been in existence up to that time (1813-1898)
