I will be posting more photos on this blog. I will probably rearrange it showing the Korean Mash unit she was in and shrines that she visited and took photos that are as vibrant today as the day she took them. 12/12/2013

1954 Captain Altha Green, Army Hospital, 8169th AU. Camp Zama, Japan; Served in Korea and Japan 1950-1954

These photo was taken in 1954.  Thank our lucky star that she captioned all the 35mm slides that I took these images from.  This first one she had captioned the following information:

Mary Lozinak, Barbara Dyson the two RAs", 8169th AU,(Camp) Zama Japan

The slide below is captioned: Mary McHugh and Mary Lozinak

This image below is captioned Marge Conly in Jap Kimono, BOQ Stairway, Sukiyak,Party

This slide below is captioned "Sword Fighters"

On this slide below she wrote: Maj. Donaldson, Maj. Eihler and Japanese spectator

On the following slide she wrote: Mary McHugh, Marge Conly, 8169th AU(Ambulatory Unit?) Zama, Japan

On this slide she wrote : Snow 12" in Zama, Japan, Jan. 1954.  Ball Field & Swimming pool at hospital. In the distance you can see the thick blanket of snow on the boxing ring.

This image below had no caption, but the oriental lady seems to be in charge and is ordering the cook to do something.  From the look on his face he is not too happy about taking order from her, neither the fellow leaning on the wall.

She did not caption the slide below, but in another image she calls them maids.

In this really sharp and colorful slide she captioned: Major Donaldson and Major Eihlers flower garden.

This next image is captioned: Parade before softball game with AFFE Medical Section. There are two signs in this photo, one has written:  Team Mascot, Only One Horse Hosp In Far East and the other says Duke eats Corn Hay and Oats, Standlee's Steamer play like Goats

In this photo it is the same sign "Team Mascot" with a horse that hard to make out because the images are dark.  It is captioned: Our softball team team mascot "Duke" and Major Fernandez

This next slide is captioned: Our Kitchen after a Sunday ball game

This next image is really beautiful. It is captioned: Snow in Japan Jan 1954.  The colors are vibrant, just beautiful.

On the following slide is written: Nurses, 1954, New year's Day, 8169th Zama, Japan

This one is captioned: Mascot and Team entering playing field

The following is captioned: Organization Day, Captain Mary Lozinak, Captain Alta Green

This group is captioned with all their names: Mary McHugh, Kay Maier, Marg Conly, Emma Stapleton and Myself, 8169th AU Zama Japan

The image below is a closeup of the above group of nurses

This solidtary nurse 35mm slide is captioned  "Happy New Year, nothing else.

This following slide was captioned Japanese Maids, Nurses Quarters

This is similar to another one , except the fellow has his back to the camera and is captioned In Our Kitchen after a Sunday afternoon of baseball

This image below is a close up of the one captioned:   This solidtary nurse is on a  35mm slide that is captioned "Happy New Year, nothing else.

This one below is captioned: Farewell party for Major Eihler, Barbara Dyson
